Indiana is one of a few states that do not have a hospital fee reimbursement system. Instead, Indiana uses repricers to determine reimbursement rates. That may be changing.
Over the course of this summer and fall, the Indiana Interim Committee on Insurance studied several insurance issues, including whether to add a hospital fee schedule to worker’s compensation payments. (See their report here.) Although the Committee made no formal recommendations, legislation will likely be filed in 2013 to add a worker’s compensation hospital fee schedule to the worker’s compensation statutes. The fee schedule is anticipated to include a Medicare plus percentage rate formula. Stay tuned.
